Help! Calling all electronic know-it-alls (compatibility question)? - boxed christmas photo cards

I have a Canon Selphy (Compact Photo Printer) for Christmas. The box says that it is compatible with the memory card I have, but I wonder whether it would be compatible with the older Olympus. Do I get a camera brand with my Canon printer, or a work that characterized the go?
